The other day I was driving to meet up with my friend. He lives in a rural area with few cars. While driving on one of the dirt roads, a rock struck my tire and blew it out. I did not have a spare tire to change it out. I would have been stranded there for awhile had I not had my free government issued cell phone. Hardly any cars pass through this area. I called up a tow truck to come and they helped me change out my tire.
When I got my friends place, I told him about what had happened to me while getting to his place. He was very thankful that I was able to call for help and he also wanted to know more about this free phone issued by the government. I told him that I had applied for it through Safelink Wireless. They had given me a free cell phone with free 250 voice minutes to use every month. The reason I was able to apply was because I met the federal limits on my income which would be 135% of the poverty level. My friend wanted to apply for this type of phone too. He is in the same position as I am financially. We are both poor. I told him to go check the website if he really wants to get a free phone.
I really like using this free phone because it keeps me safe. There have been other times that I have used this phone during times of emergency. For example, I used it to call the police one time because the neighbors were getting rowdy. Other times I use the phone to keep in touch with my family members. If I did not have this phone, nobody would know whether or was dead or alive.
